Tradesman XChange V1.0
What is it?
Tradesman XChange is a program that runs on your palm or pocket PC device and connects to an Internet server. Once this connection is established, your Tradesman visit data is sent to your nominated email account in CSV format. A CSV document can be easily read in a spreadsheet program, such as MS Excel or Open Office, and it can be easily imported into MS Access or another database.
What are the system requirements?
1) A palm or pocket PC.
2) Your PDA must be connected to the Internet. Don't panic - you can easily do this by connecting through your desktop PC (see below).
How to connect the the Internet:
- gprs
- bluetooth
- a PDA modem
- 802.11
- Infra Red
- A shared Internet connection with your desktop PC. If you have a pocket PC this is a natural behaviour of ActiveSync (make sure that the 'pass through' option on ActiveSync is enabled). If you have a palm OS device and you need to share you DSL, Cable or dialup connection, you need to install some additional software on your PC. Windows users with a USB connected palm should download Softick PPP (free 30 day trial), Windows users with a serial connected palm (older palms) can use Mocha W32 PPP, and MAC users can try Missing Sync. If you use Linux it is possible to share your internet connetion without spending a cent - try doing a google search for 'Linux palm PPP' .
Once you have connected your PDA to the Internet you are ready to use Tradesman XChange.

Is there a hotsync conduit?
Not at the moment, but that will be on the development board soon. I wanted to make sure that is was possible for everyone to sync, regardless of pda device or PC operating system.
